At Gurnard Primary School, children’s health and their physical and mental well-being is at the heart of everything we do. In the classrooms, staff understand the importance of developing positive relationships and connections with all children to ensure they feel safe and develop a secure sense of self-worth. This ethos continues into the playground and in February 2023 we started our journey with OPAL. 

OPAL addresses all the areas that schools must plan for if they want to strategically and sustainably improve the quality of their play opportunities. OPAL is the only programme of its kind that has been independently proven to sustainably improve the quality of play in British primary schools.
